    5 Expensive Treks in Nepal

Trekking through the wilderness of a diverse landscape, with the rewards of a blend of natural wonders and cultural treasures, is alluring. Despite the trek being through a remote region, some treks are expensive.

The cost adds up due to the permit cost, logistics, and transportation during your journey. The expense can sometimes come from the marvellous luxury experience and comfort between the Himalayas.

Each expensive trek offers a different experience that justifies the effort and cost. So, let’s explore some of Nepal’s gems or expensive treks.

    1. Everest Base Camp Trek

When we talk about trekking, the Everest Base Camp comes first. But it has marked its place in this list due to its popularity.

The Everest base Camp Trek starts with an alluring mountain flight to Lukla, one of the scenic mountain towns. The trail is adorned with teahouses, luxury hotels, and cafes that give a modern touch to the lap of the Himalayas.

In peak times, finding a place to stay in this region is hard, which increases the cost. The mountain flight also adds to the cost.

Regardless, the unparalleled experience of luxury and comfort in the remote region makes this trek worth every step.

    1. Manaslu Circuit Trek

The second on our list is the Manaslu Circuit Trek, an untrodden adventure that circles one of the world’s highest peaks, Manaslu. The trail is known to take the trekkers to ancient cultures and customs and give them a raw experience of the region’s wilderness.

From tea houses to food, every aspect is very simple and basic. However, the region’s limited infrastructure can cost a bit extra. During your trek through this restricted area, the cost of permits, transportation through the remote regions, and hiring a porter increases the price.

Apart from this, the Manaslu Circuit Trek blends the cultural heritage of the Tibetan people, the natural wonders of the Manaslu and Annapurna Conservation area, and the scenic view of the Nadi, Himalchuli, Ganesh, and Manaslu ranges.

    1. Upper Mustang Trek

Upper Mustang Trek gives you an authentic experience of the desert-like landscape of the charming Mustang Valley, surrounded by the Annapurna ranges.

But what makes it expensive is the cost of the permit. It costs around $500 for the first ten days and $50 for each extra day. Besides, you should also get the permit for Annapurna Conservation Area, which costs an additional $25.

Since the region is restricted, the limited infrastructure and hiring guides for this region are immoderate.

    1. Upper Dolpo Trek

Like the upper Mustang trek, the upper Dolpo trek is another unexplored gem. The highlight of the trek is the Tibetan influence in the area, which has been preserved for over a century.

At the same time, the remote location also increases the price. The supplies are transported with extended travel, which increases the cost. Also, the requirement for extra gear and equipment contributes to the higher cost of the trek.

In addition, the permit cost is the same as that of the Upper Mustang Trek, which significantly increases the trek cost.

    1. Nar Phu Valley trek

Nar Phu Valley Trek is a time-travel journey to the ancient culture preserved in the Nr and Phu villages, surrounded by the beautiful Annapurna ranges. The best part of the trek is in the rain shadow area, making it one of Nepal’s popular destinations for summer treks.

However, the restricted area and the less modernity of the region increase the trek cost. While the permit is not expensive, other factors like a guide, transportation, and logistics increase the price.

Besides, the rewards of the cultural experience of the local Tibetan people and the architectural marvel of the Nar and Phu villages make the cost worth it.

    Conclusion

Despite the price, the trek gives you the experience of a marvellous remote and culturally rich Himalayas region. The costs are affected by factors such as restored area permits, logistics, and limited support, and the rewards are immense.

All of these treks are more than journeys through the Himalayas. They are the opportunity to make a lifetime memory with a sense of deep connection to Nepal’s natural and cultural wonders.
